Maybe limit use of the DGPU, even though it might slow some processes down. Sometimes people think, hey, didn't happen on my old mac! but consider that sometimes that old machine was self limiting in it's slowness, sort of like how a Corolla just can't overheat the same way a Merc F1 car can. If Lr is churning through preview generation while you've got a video playing on the external as you do adjustments on a 20-layer 50MB photo in Ps, well, yeah.fans. It's not an especially big catalog, but if it's processing lots of 1:1 previews and with big images that have lots and lots of local edits that will be the most processor/heat intensive.Īnd try to isolate the problem. I don't know how fast that external is, but it could be slower. I'd also try moving the Lr catalog and previews to your boot drive. And of course you're ambient temp matters some. It's hard to say, but I'd start by getting something like iStat Menus so you can look at what tasks and applications are using the most horsepower. The catalogue includes arouns 70,000 pictures.ĭon't know if you need any other info, but I really need your help. My lightroom catalogue is on an external SSD samsung My mac is connected to a Benq SW270c 2k external monitor through USB-C port. I'd say it's a problem related to Lightroom as, as I mentioned above, I do other milion things with my mac and I have never heard the fan working full revs. I wonder if it is my computer or a problem related to Lightroom Classic. Obviously the mac gets slow straight away and to work on a RAW file of 30 something mb becomes very hard. As soon as I use Lightroom Classic and I start using some brushes or filters or few sliders the fan of the macbook pro starts and it sounds like an airplane ready for take off. I use photoshop CC, final cut pro in a professional use and I have no issues at all. AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 memory.2.4 GHz 9-core ninth genration Intel Core i9 with Turbo Boost up to 5.0 GHz.My apologies if the subject has been already discussed but this is something that drives me crazy especially after having paid a new macbookpro 6 thousand dollars.
